That dream vacation we had in our calendars for this summer may have been put on hold for the moment, however, the temperatures are hot and sizzling here at home as if we are bathing in the St.Tropez sun!
While we are navigating our new normal we continue to make alternate plans…enter the beloved Staycation.
More recently and taking all safety precautions, we have started implementing socially distanced get-togethers into our routine with family and friends.
With summer here in full heat, beachwear is very much part of our wardrobe and attire, especially as we sit in the sun through this heatwave. Whether we want to sunbathe in our backyard, have a poolside lunch (keeping in mind sunscreen with the appropriate SPF) or a little getaway to a cottage, swimsuits are a wardrobe essential we need to take full advantage of while our short, yet very hot summer lasts!
As is for all other clothing options, swimwear also has its trends in the fashion industry. I have always advised my clients in an overall capacity that investing in too many “trends” can be an unnecessary weight on your finances. Rather choose carefully and look at the longevity of an investment piece. A little fun with trends can be that little perk for the season, but perhaps it’s an accessory vs. a piece you would like to last until next year.
Swimsuits, in particular, are like an undergarment where I believe one should invest in. The swimsuit acts as a base and you should always feel confident sporting them no matter what silhouette you choose to wear.
Today, we are seeing so many versions of the swimsuit from the itty, bitty bottoms, to the flossy strings in all swim styles. The most elegant and chic styles are the timeless silhouettes and some have been “on-trend” for a very long time, here are some options and a few of my favourites:
